The Boy Died

What up TJ! I can’t believe you are about to do it! It took you longer than I expected, but here you are. I had plans for you to do this at 25! Just wanted to congratulate you on getting married before you get busy with all the celebrations.

As a front seat passenger on this journey, I know how difficult it was to get here. You had to tear down walls, do away with fear, discover family, get vulnerable with God and so much more. I almost didnt think you would get here. After your last experience I saw the bitterness in your heart. I thought you were about to return to 2013 “Tobe.” That was back when I was in control and you know how I get. Your wife will probably read this so i’ll spare the details on how young TJ likes to party lol. After you failed getting to the altar, I thought we would be together forever. I was excited, but there was a piece of me that was sad because I know your potential. I always knew we would have to separate at some point due to your mission. While we had fun, I always remembered this scripture that plagued me.

“When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.”  ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The things we did were childish but you know we had a blast! Remember that one time in bandcamp……… Ahhhh let me stop lol. All the fun we had never had a good aftertaste (NO SHADE 😭😂). I always felt off the next day and now I know what that was. You paid a price for every fun thing we did. My bad bro, I’m just the younger version of you. I see how it delayed certain levels you have unlocked and I am happy that you became a man who put my childish ways away.

As you take off into the sunset with our wife. I just have a few words I want you to abide by.

  1. Never come back – You struggled with this in the past, but never come back to me. If you do you will only be repeating a cycle of men that act like boys and hurt their family. Be the father you yearned for in your childhood. Never return to the childish games of our youth
  2. Give yourself grace – I know how much you want to be a good husband, but no one on this earth is perfect. Do your best and be quick to apologize when you fall short
  3. Don’t isolate – This is your bag right here! Your drug of choice. You love to cut people off and carry burdens. God is giving you a wife to help. He has also given you men to assist (Ahmed, Mike, Josh, Habeeb, Mark, Vic, Goddy, your bro, and many more).  Do not let the devil trick you into unhealthy isolation
  4. Write to me – You left me here alone bro. Is it because life got tough? You promised to write from time to time but I forgive you. You know writing helps you process things. Keep me posted

Thats it bro. This is the end of the line. From here on out. You are Mr Tobechi Jeffrey Mlemchukwu. Formerly known as TJ, aka Tobe, aka Tobe Bryant, aka Thirst Miles, aka Booker T, aka Tobes and all the other names that have rap sheets associated with them. Make me proud. I have always seen the crown on your head.

LEAVE A LEGACY

With Love from TJ
